Cake Shop – Your Tasty Managing Career

EleFun Games offer you a new time-management game that stands in line with the recent tenders in the casual game industry. You are the manager of a confectionery where you serve multi-layered cakes and beverages to demanding customers. The game play largely resembles Burger Shop, but it has some features distinguishing it from others.

A career as a cafe manager? That's a piece of cake!

That's how Emily, a young college graduate, thought when she received a call from Gail Davis, the owner of a newly opened confectionery. She did not hesitate a bit before accepting the offer – and here is the first day of work!

As you already understood, nothing new for the story here. The game play is basically typical for all time-management games, though it has some new twists. At first you have just a show-case with three types of loafs and three types of jam for your cakes and a trash bin. Watch carefully for your customers' orders and work fast, creating three-layer cakes for them – and soon you'll be able to acquire some new fittings for your cafe.

Here we come to the main attractions of the game, including the addictive game play (and it is addictive, believe me). After each level you can see how a number of your game parameters have changed. First, it is the level of your Cafe – measured in stars and determining the efficiency of your work. It depends on the fittings you have purchased, and, actually, on the diversity of your menu. And you can buy upgrades based on two other parameters – your Cash and Mastery. With cash everything is simple – it's just the money you have earned during the time-management levels. Mastery is something you can raise by elearning tips. The amount of your tips depends on your level of service, that is on how long you make your customers wait. The more tips – the higher your Mastery is. And if you comply with the minimum Cash and Mastery requirements – you are welcome to purchase new fittings for your Cafe, like coffee machine, ice-cream, drinks, additional tables etc. All of those raise the rating of your enterprise and attract more customers.

Tip: prepare fresh portions of drinks, cotton candy etc. immediately after serving the previous ones, replacing them in the machines. This significantly saves your time.

But these are not the only things to spend your money on. While Emily adores her new job, she starts missing her home very soon, and Gail suggests that she builds a home for herself there. The construction raises Emily's mood, and while she is smiling your customers become more patient. But in order to proceed with it you will also need money – and sometimes it is even more important than the upgrades.

But enough words. It's time to play and have fun with your Cake Shop! …

University of Maryland (UM) Terrapins (Terps) Football Players Taken in 2010 NFL Draft – 2 Selected

The University of Maryland (UM) Terrapins (Terps) college football program had two players taken in the 2010 NFL Draft that was held in April. The school based in College Park, Maryland had two athletes selected by National Football League (NFL) franchises in the annual draft and those two men are:

  • Bruce Campbell (offensive lineman) – selected in the fourth round with the 106th overall pick by the Oakland Raiders
  • Nolan Carroll (cornerback) – picked in the fifth round by the Miami Dolphins as the 145th overall player selected

The Maryland Terrapins compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and are proud to send disciplined young men on to play football at the next level. For athletes like Bruce and Nolan hearing their names called during the NFL Draft is a dream come true and the University of Maryland prides itself in playing a role in turning those dreams into reality.

Bruce Campbell, born in 1988, is a 6’6″ 314 pound offensive lineman that played tackle in high school and college but is expected to at least start out as an interior offensive lineman at the guard position with the Oakland Raiders. Despite having the height to play offensive tackle the initial reports from the Raiders are that they would prefer to ease Bruce into their offense at a position that lends itself to a smoother transition.

Campbell is slated to wear number 74 next year for the NFL team in Oakland and Raiders head coach Tom Cable is excited about the upside of his fourth round draft selection. Coach Cable hopes to get Bruce on the field early and often as the Raiders for years now have been trying to fill a void on their offensive line. Many football analysts agree that the root cause of the recent offensive woes of the Oakland franchise can be traced back to a porous front five.

It can be argued that Nolan Carroll, the other University of Maryland 2010 NFL Draft selection, is in many ways an opposite type of player from his former teammate Bruce Campbell. Carroll plays defense whereas Campbell plays offense and furthermore while Bruce has a large 6’6″ 314 pound frame Nolan is a much more pedestrian size at 5’11” and 204 pounds.

Before being picked up by the Miami Dolphins to add youth and speed to their secondary Nolan grew up in the state of Florida. Nolan Carroll was born and raised in Green Cove Springs, Florida which is in the northeastern part of the state. After spending five years in Maryland during his stint in college Nolan and his parents (who still live in Florida) are surely excited about having him back in the Sunshine State.…

HIV Education in the Schools Across America

AIDS has devastated the lives of many citizens in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that the number of AIDS infections among young Americans between the ages of 13 to 25 rose nearly 20 percent, and approximately 50 percent of new infections are among individuals who are younger than 25 years of age. Therefore, finding better methods to communicate the risk of AIDS transmission are greatly needed to protect our young people and preserve the next generation.

Young people in the United States are at a persistent risk of HIV infection. This risk is especially notable for youth of minority races and ethnicities. Continued HIV prevention outreach and education efforts, including programs on abstinence and delaying initiation of sexual relations, are required as new generations replace the older generations that benefited from earlier prevention strategies.

I believe that there should be more HIV and AIDS education in the school systems across America. I feel that this is an area of education that we could improve to protect and preserve our next generation. There are two reasons that I feel this way. My first reason is to prevent a student from being discriminated against, and the second reason is giving education to the students on preventing the spread of this disease.

My first reason for believing there should be more education about HIV and AIDS in the school system is the way I was treated when I was diagnosed with HIV. I was diagnosed with HIV at 14 years old and due to the lack of education to the teaching staff in the earlier years; I wasn’t permitted to attend class in a regular school setting. Instead I was forced to be home schooled by the board of education, (homebound program) in which I wasn’t taught all the subjects as a regular student would be. I wasn’t taught mathematics at a high school level so when I decided to attend college I had a lot of difficulties in the area of mathematics. On the other hand, English was drilled into my head like a nail, which I am grateful for. The reason for this was that my homebound teacher was an English Professor before she started teaching in the homebound program.

Even though I wasn’t taught as well as those students attending classes in a regular school setting, I have become an excellent student in college despite my difficulties in math. I do believe, however, that the school system has gotten better. I haven’t had any problems with discrimination while attending college. That, at least, is a good thing!

Secondly, I feel that if there had been more education on the prevention and spread of this disease, I might not have contracted it. Had I known about the risks of this disease, I may not be infected today. Even though I contracted HIV through a blood transfusion, maybe if I had been more educated on the ways it is transmitted, I could have somehow prevented …

Firearm Education in Schools

Gun safety is an assortment of guidelines and recommendations that can be applied when possessing, storing, or handling firearms. The purpose of gun safety is to eradicate or diminish the risks of unintentional death, harm or damage triggered by improper possession, storage, or treatment of firearms. Gun education for children should start at home, but not all parents are equally knowledgeable about gun safety rules and regulations. All children K-12 should have an equal chance to learn about gun safety and the laws incorporated with firearms; therefore optional firearm education and training courses should be offered by schools.

Firearm education and training courses should be an optional course offered in the same manner that sexual education courses are made accessible by schools. Gun education and training courses for students should be available for every student, but be discretionary to only the students who have written parental consent. These courses should also be designed around different age groups, offering different course material that is suitable for the mentality and maturity of the children. The courses should be broken into three different levels, kindergarten through fourth grade, fifth through eighth grade, and ninth through twelve grade.

The first stage of gun education in schools will be designated for children ranging from kindergarten to fourth grade. These programs will not be designed to instill whether guns are good or bad, they will be intended to promote the protection and safety of children. There will be no firearms used in the program, and the lessons will not condone promoting firearm ownership or use. It will also get students to release guns and take action in the same manner that they would have any other harmful American household item like chemicals, electrical shock, and medicines. This program should be perceived as an avoidance type of program helping to prevent the intentional carrying and use of guns. The main message children should learn is if they see a gun, stop, do not touch, leave the area and tell an adult.

The second stage of gun education in schools will be designated for children ranging from fifth to eighth grade. These programs will integrate the educational history of firearms along with hands on training. Students will learn about the evolution of small arms and the unbiased impacts that they have had on history. They will also be informed of the second amendment and their constitutional right to keep and bear arms. For the first time students will be introduced with hands on training using non-functional replica guns that will help students understand the proper handling and care of a gun. These hands on courses will be entwined with a hunter's safety course, which is more than your average firearm safety course. Instruction will include ethics and responsibility, wildlife identification, conservation and wildlife management, survival and first aid, special hunting and tree stand safety. This will allow students under the age of 16 to legally hunt with an adult, and help them to become more comfortable with the …
