Top Must See Attractions in Toronto

As the largest city in Canada, Toronto sees millions of visitors a year. If you only have a limited time to visit Toronto, it’s important to know where to go and what to see, in order to make the most of your time here. Toronto is a vast city, but the best places to see are mostly confined to the southern part of the city. Staying somewhere downtown or close to downtown, on the subway line, will make getting to all the different attractions much easier.

Scarborough Bluffs

Anyone who isn’t native to Toronto likely hasn’t heard of the Scarborough Bluffs. It is an escarpment that rises as high as 90 meters and stretches 15 kms long, along the eastern portion of the waterfront. You can take a walk along Bluffers Park, where you can take in the view of the Bluffs above and visit the beach which is surrounded by the Bluffs above on one side and a beautiful natural landscape on the other side. I’ve seen people swim here before, but I would not recommend swimming anywhere along the Toronto waterfront, as the sewer system runs into the lake (unless you want to grow a third arm). It is also worth visiting the top of the Bluffs, where you can take in the view of the lake below. There are trails all over the Bluffs that you can follow and explore all the beauty it has to offer. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll be familiar with the bluffs, as it is one of my favorite place to shoot in Toronto.

Toronto Harbourfront Centre

The Harbourfront is a wonderful path along the lakefront. It is great place downtown to have a drink or grab a bite to eat. You can take in the view of the lake, get some fresh air as the refreshing wind come up from the lake and you can see the Toronto island. If you’re not looking to eat or sit down, there’s a long walkway all along the edge of the lake where you can take a relaxing walk.

High Park

Just west of downtown Toronto you’ll find High Park. It is a beautiful 400 acre large Park, with hiking trails, a small zoo and even a swimming pool and some sports facilities. There are many ponds, which create a stunning landscape. It is a calming oasis just minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown life. It is especially beautiful in the spring, when the famous Cherry Blossoms are blooming and in the fall when the leaves are changing colors.

Casa Loma

Casa Loma is a beautiful Edwardian Era castle. It is the only landmark Castle in North America and has even been featured in a few movies. Here you can explore the countless wonderfully furnished rooms, and enjoy a walk around the lovely gardens. There are even hidden tunnels and passages to explore.

Toronto Island

You cannot visit Toronto and not visit the Toronto Island. It is a natural paradise …

Discover the Truth About For-Profit Colleges

The popularity of for-profit colleges, e.g., Capella University, DeVry University and University of Phoenix may pose a conflicting dilemma for many parents. Some fear that their child may not receive a legitimate degree upon graduation. In this article, I will answer some common questions about these schools. I hope that with this additional information you will have the tools to help your child make the best decision for his or her education.

If for-profit colleges are often much more expensive and in some cases have bad reputations when compared to public universities, why are so many people enrolling?

There are three main reasons: advertising, customer service and fast degrees. Many of these schools are owned by large corporations with huge marketing budgets. As a result, they can use aggressive and expensive recruitment campaigns that utilize radio, flyers, side-walk sales agents, newspapers, public transportation and TV. Some pay internet search engines to be listed as first picks when people conduct searches. Some of the search phrases they have paid for are “top colleges”, “online colleges” and “top accredited schools.”

In order to stay in business for-profit colleges need to implement prompt attentive customer service in the admissions and financial-aid process. They understand that these processes can be intimidating and daunting for most people. For-profit colleges make it their business to streamline the process. They make it a priority to enroll students as quickly as possible. They also work closely with students to help them receive every type of grant and loan, they are eligible for. Most schools have open enrollment and do not have admissions tests. This adds to the ease of entry and simplifies the college application.

Many of the students who attend these schools need to either keep their current jobs or find employment as quickly as possible. For- profit colleges offer and market accelerated programs, online classes, and hybrid courses (online plus a few on-campus meetings) to accommodate the different needs of its clients. Many schools take life and work experience into consideration when determining what classes someone will need to graduate. They also allow students to test out of classes and often allow military personnel to convert military classes and training into college credits. These conveniences have attracted many people.

Are for-profit colleges accredited?

The short answer is yes; however, some accreditations can be worthless. Many for-profit institutions have national accreditation rather than regional accreditation. Regionally accredited schools are generally academically oriented, non-profit institutions. Nationally accredited schools are predominantly for-profit and offer vocational, career, or technical programs. Many regionally accredited schools will not accept transfer credits earned at a nationally accredited school. Make sure you ask an admissions representative whether they are regionally or nationally accredited. If a school tells you, they are in the process of seeking accreditation; you should consider enrollment after they have been accredited.

Some schools have made misrepresentations concerning their accreditation status to entice students to enroll. In order to protect your child, I would confirm the school’s accreditation before enrolling. The …

How God Changes Your Brain

Dr Alexis Carrel (1873-1944) was one of the noblest souls who firmly declared that the prayer is the most powerful tool to generate energy.

He said that the Prayer is one of the most powerful forms of energy man can generate. He also explained that “Man offers himself to God. He stands before Him like the canvas before the painter or the marble before the sculptor. At the same time he asks for His Grace, expresses his needs and those of his brothers in suffering. Such a type of prayer demands complete renovation”.

After this great Nobel laureate here comes Andrew Newberg, a neuroscientist who confirms that thinking about God definitely changes your brain for good!

In his best-selling book authored along with Mark Robert Waldman he reveals that irrespective of your religious belief, the very thought of God makes you efficient.

The book consist of three interesting sections namely Religion and the human brain, Neural evolution and God and Transforming your inner reality.

He explains the God circuit in our brain thus: “From early childhood on, God exists in every person’s brain as a combination of ideas, images, feelings, sensations and self/other relationships”.

How the neural structure and circuits such as occipital-parietal circuit, parietal-factional circuit, frontal lobe, thalamus, amygdala striatum anterior cingulate respectively identifies God, establishes the relationship between man/woman with God, creates and integrates all of our ideas about God, gives emotional meanings to our concepts of God, creates the emotional impression of authoritative God, allows to feel safe in the presence of God, allows us to experience God were all beautifully explained in simple terms without any complicated scientific jargon.

The book in 348 pages consists of ten chapters in total.

Andrew Newberg is the director of the Center for Spirituality and the Mind at the University of Pennsylvania. Mark Robert Waldman is an associate fellow in the same center.

Various experiments are narrated in a lucid style and make a compelling reading!

What is Andrew’s final conclusion about God? The more you explore God, the more mysterious he becomes! Science according to him can however help expose some of the ways we think and feel about God and that can help everybody broad one’s personal beliefs.

It is very interesting to note that Hindu, Islam, Christianity, Buddha, Jain, Jew whatever be the religion you practice, the thought of God activates our brain for good!

The humanity owes much to Andrew and Mark for their timely book that helps to reinforce one’s faith in God!

All spiritual inclined persons and public in general should read this book without fail to make the world a better place. Because the authors confirm that the faith in God brings you compassion that is the need of the hour.

I salute Andrew Newberg and Mark Robert Waldman for their excellent contribution to the humanity. Perhaps it may be the will of God that they should inspire themselves and inspire others!

Book lovers who read this book will join me in congratulating …

Gaining Writing Experience

GAINING WRITING EXPERIENCE

Some Catch-22, huh? In the writing business, you can not get published until you have some experience. If you can not get published until you have experience, how do you get experience? How do you get publishing clips to show all those publishers who want to see "previously published clips"? It's almost as if Lily Tomlin's telephone operator character came up with this: "Is this the party to what I'm speaking? Are you the unpublished writer who has published clips I can look at? (Snort, snort!)"

What's an unpublished writer to do? Get published, of course! I'm not being flippant; I'm serious. Think about your life. There are a number of things you can write about right now (essays and travel articles about that great place you stumbled upon last summer). There is a lot more you can write about if you do a little research (an article concerning something that has been on your mind-your mother's illness? The stringent standards of learning being enforced upon elementary school students?). How about doing an article about the writer's conference you attended?

Now you have your ideas, but where do you get them published? You may start with your local newspaper. If they're like most newspapers, they're in need of fillers from time to time. They may even be in need of freelance reporters during the summer and the holiday seasons. Talk with your newspaper's editor. Be frank. Tell him / her that you need some publishing experience in order build your portfolio. In addition to putting some published clips in your "clip file," you'll also gain valuable experience and hone your craft. Then when you write that novel starring the investigative reporter, you'll know the lingo … and the editor can say, "I knew that author when …"

Op-ed pieces are another way to go; And if you query the right market, you could make some good money while acquiring these published clips. We all have opinions. If you can write about a hot subject and express your opinion on it succinctly and objectively, you're in the position to write an op-ed piece. Let's go back to the standards of learning issue. While you realize little Johnny needs to get a good education, you also realize the importance of playtime and "down time." You do not want Johnny to be a prime candidate for a stress-induced heart attack at age 32. Many other parents feel this way. Some do not. Some would say, "Standards of learning?" Talk with other parents to get conflicting views and write the article.

Although some shudder at the very words "non-paying market," if you're an unpublished writer seeking clips, it's a good alternative. After you get those clips, it's not so great to work for free; But at this point, you need the exposure and experience, and they need the articles. I think it's a fair trade as long as you work for a web site, e-zine, print magazine, newsletter, or even charitable …

How to Keep Your Acting Career

Your first job as an actor or actress was great but it shouldn’t stop there. Some of the greatest celebrities have been in it for decades and you too can also have a successful acting career.

One of the things you have to do is continue to take up acting classes. There are many around and this will give you the chance to explore more of what you can do is an actor. This will prevent people from giving you the same role every time which shows that you are very versatile.

Although your manager is the one helping you look for more projects, you can do your share also by sending out your resume and photos to producers and directors. You have to remember that the entertainment industry is a tough business and there are upcoming actors and actresses like yourself fighting for the same spot. Ever wondered what happened to those who had a good movie a few years back and where they are now?

Most of the films and television shows have actors and actresses that are physically fit so if you want to be considered for a part, do your share by working out regularly. You may not afford a physical trainer but you can surely sign up for a gym membership.

You should also accept invitations to scene nights where you get the chance to put a 2 minute monologue. This event is usually attended by people in the industry who are looking for talents for a new show or as a guest in an ongoing show.

Don’t forget to bring a press kit so you can distribute a few to the people there. This will make it easy for them to get in touch with you or your agent.

It wouldn’t hurt to also take part in a small movie made by film student or an independent film. You won’t get that much money from them but at least you can add this project to your resume so people will know you are doing something to better improve who you are as an actor.

The sad truth about being an actor is that you won’t know when you will have another acting gig. This is why you have to take steps to improve your craft and believe it or not find other ways to supplement your income by perhaps getting a regular job because after all, we need to pay bills and other expenses.

Keeping your acting career is tough and you won’t hear celebrities saying that in front of a live camera when all they will say is how good things are and smile.

But just think about it, when was the last time did you see Mr. or Mrs. X on a television show or on the big screen? It may have been awhile and in order for them to continue living in a big house, they must have done something to stay afloat.

To find out how, it is best that …

Is Modeling a Proper Career?

I'm sure majority of our parents have told us that modeling is not a proper career to pursue in or a good path to take at least once in our lifetime. The reasons behind them were probably "You will have to wear really revealing clothes in front of many men", "modeling will influence you to conduct bad activities like smoking or taking drugs", "some rich well-known man will pay you to sleep with him "and many more. But then you see models like Tyra Banks, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and many more doing so well in the fashion industry, they all seem so content with their luxurious life. You can not seem to decide which is true and false. And as an aspirating model who's a degree or PHD holder, unsure if you would really want to break into the modeling industry, risking yourselves being involved in activities you did not sign up for or just play safe and pursue your career in a more safe and stable line like a Physiotherapist or PR practitioner or something else. So is modeling a proper career to pursuit?

Modeling as a career has its pros and cons. It's a vast industry that many are dying to get in but only a few can make it on top. It is an industry that's always surrounded by cameras, well-known people, media and more. So whatever you do it is being under surveillance by everyone. Many are willing to sacrifice to get this kind of attention and life, some would even cross their personal boundaries in hopes that some agency would notice them. However, the modeling life is of course glamorous too. You get to travel the world, wear designers' clothes, meet superstars, maybe even lucky enough you might have one or two flings with them, get expensive makeover that no one else can have except for you, get exclusive access to many places without the need to queue up, earn big bucks and more. While there are numerous great things of being a model there is likewise a dull underside that everyone bought to know about before transferring ownership of their life to the trend setting world.

PROS

  1. If you're blessed enough to be scouted by one of the top agencies, guarantee your bank accounts will be flooded with large sum of money. If it's a small agency but a legit one, you still get your paychecks that can cover your bills and keep you more than alive.
  2. You get to see the world for free! Yeah, you can definitely cross out all the places in that travel bucket list of yours before you die
  3. Free branded stuff! Clothes, bags, shoes, you name it. Generous designers would give you one or two of their creations to you as a token of generosity or gratitude. And that's only if they really like you. But of course sometimes they're for advertising purposes as well.
  4. Boost your confidence. Trust me, the more shows you book, the higher

Packing for College

Sending a child away for college and helping them pack brings up so many emotions and memories. As you remember back to your days in college or anticipate their days, do not forget some of the most simple things that may be needed and should be packed.

It's easy not to forget the daily necessities like clothes and toiletries. But, do not forget the carryall they will need to bring their toiletries to the bathroom with them. Personalizing a bag or container for their items is a great idea.

Help keep them organized with laundry bins, bags and other containers to make it easy to bring their items to the washing machines and / or back home for washing by mom or dad. Hopefully it will help keep those dirty and clean clothes separated as well. And, again, personalize, personalize, personalize.

If they are going to be driving to and from home / college daily or on visits, prepare their car with the necessary roadside emergency help like jumper cables, roadside kits and blankets.

Some other college necessities may include a small set of tools, small fan, book light for late night studying, travel hot drink thermos or mug, bag of change for the vending machines.

Fun items to pack, of course, are things to remind them of home and the place they are always welcome. Picture frames with family photos, special moments, favorite books, baskets of their favorite candy, are great gift ideas to sneak into the items they are bringing to the dorm.

Everyone likes to receive mail deliveries and let's not forget, care packages are a favorite. Lollipop bouquets, cookie drops and other food favorites are a must throughout the year. …

Forex Strategy Secrets – The Ten Commandments of Trading

Just like any other business Forex trading has rules that must be adhered to in order for you to be successful. What follows is a list of important, "must do's" for profitable Forex trading.

Controlling your risk is without a doubt one of the most important things you can do in order to become a profitable trader. It's pretty obvious that without risk control it does not take much time for your account balance to go to zero. Risk control should be designed to keep you in the game during those particularly difficult times when your chosen Forex strategy is not reading the market in exactly the way that it should.

Understand the mechanics of trading. It really does not matter whether you are a manual trader or one who uses an automated Forex trading robot. You need to understand how things work and how trades are placed. This is important because you need to minimize your mistakes as any mistake could be potentially costly.

Instantly correct any mistake you make. We're all human and we are subject to make mistakes from time to time. If you happen to click on the "buy" button in your trading platform, but mean to click on the "sell" button, get out of the incorrect long trade immediately. Many beginning traders will make the fatal mistake of waiting to see what the trade does rather than correcting the mistake and following their system to the letter.

Do not abandon a strategy that is working. This may seem obvious to you at first glance, but you would be surprised at how many new traders are only happy chasing the latest, greatest Forex strategy.

Do what your trading system tells you to do. It seems in the world of foreign exchange that following instructions is one of the most difficult thing for beginning traders to do. By not following your system's instructions you are both leaving money on the table as well is throwing good money away.

Learn to take losses. At first glance this might seem like I'm asking you to, "be a loser". That is not what I'm saying at all. What I am saying is that since losses are a natural part of trading it's best not to be freaked out by them. Keep in mind that even the very best strategies will experience losses.

Do not expect miracles. The world of trading is full of bright-eyed, bushy tail beginners who are unfortunately being led to believe that anyone can get rich just by trading on the foreign exchange. This is not meant to sound negative, it's meant to be realistic … and that is what you must be if you plan to succeed. Remember that there is no such thing as a successful trader with unrealistic expectations.

Remember that the market is always right. You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you just do not accept the fact that the price is what the price is. You should never make statements such …
