The Human Mind – Have You Chosen a Career?

Between slavery and masochism, which one will you chose? Personal case studies for the last 3 years of experiences have been obscure, somewhat uncomfortable, interesting, challenging and full of self-growth as far insights in the human mind and finances goes. A truth being, there is not a better way to grow your salesmanship, skills and communication and definitely temper than by interacting with others.

Having numerous and consistent interactions with million dollar minds, excellent middle-class minds and what many consider, poor pooh-poohed minds. The conclusions in principles are astonishing. There is no better way to grow than to experience everything yourself. You get a better picture of everything and reminders and past association come stronger rushing into your mind when situations assimilate.

Learning from the experiences of others costs less and it is more intelligent to do so if you can really adapt your mind to believe most of the stories that you hear, but nothing beats personal experiences. Some of the latest principals I have learned are vastly interesting, here are a share of them for your understanding among mindsets.

Most poor and middle class people believe they need to have someone tell them they are worthy. Worthy of being this, worthy of having that, worthy of enjoying this and that among the few for starters. Since elementary school as many of our confident begin to unleash to high degrees, without knowing it – you start classifying yourself worthy or unworthy. Most of your belief will come from social external conditioning and from deep conditioning from family conditioning.

Situation being, people who classify themselves as worthy, demonstrate it. As interesting as it could get, their bank accounts and net worth are much more valuable financially to them and others. Good thing about business, those who survive with their stamp of worthy most often thrive and have much better possibilities of achieving their dreams then those working in something that they do not like, most often it might be a job for you?

Without knowing much of the situation in the states, if you want to live rich in Puerto Rico and want to work for someone this is some of the collected studies. Most often the comparison thanks to similar culture and tradition are basically the same, be it in Puerto Rico or USA.

Most often, you either need to have multiple degrees, a strong portfolio with specialized experiences and either being in the selling prestigious business or in the pharmaceutical industry to live very nicely as those are a predominant in Puerto Rico. And you may know already that pharmaceuticals have been closing down by the dozen in the past year. Scary, however, a form a bit more lucrative than financially secure.

Problem this days as you may notice, someone have to say- you are worth too often in order for most minds to believe it and take action on your dreams. Reminder, most often it will not happen. Two easy reasons being, the factor of your current …

How Old is Too Old to Change Careers?

Many of the client’s I work with in my Life Coaching business are in the age range of 40 plus. A belief which comes up often early in our conversations is the belief that maybe they are too old to consider changing careers. After all they should be slowing down. They should be thinking about retiring not starting a new business or entering a new career. Well thats a lot of “shoulds” and as time goes by I am less and less sold on retirement. I get many retired people in my workshops who say that they are totally bored with retirement and are ready to get back to work! Sure, they are picky about the work they want. They want work they are passionate about and many want more freedom of time. What they all want is to feel like they are doing something meaningful and enjoyable with their life.

As a generation we are living longer then ever and many of us are extremely healthy so there is no reason to hold back from finding and creating work we are passionate about. There are many examples of people who change careers much later then is normally thought of as a “good age” for a new career. I remember reading about a woman who always dreamed about being a doctor. She entered medical school at the age of 60. Often people would say to her, “Do you know that you will be in your 70’s when you finish?” Her answer always was, “I’ll be in my 70’s anyway. I would rather be a doctor when I am 70 then just be 70.” Last I heard she was enjoying a thriving medical practice. Most successful new businesses are started by someone in their 50’s or older. In fact many Venture Capital Companies prefer funding businesses run by a more mature and experienced leader.

A common argument against starting a new career as an older person is that , “I won’t have enough energy.” Often people are so burned out in their current career that it is hard to imagine having the energy to start a new one. We do need to be good caretakers of our energy at all times of life but especially as we get older. The beauty is that when you find a career you love, which uses your strengths then it will naturally give you energy! Yes, you will get tired by the end of the day but you will be ready and excited to go do it again tomorrow. When you are working from your strengths and passions it feeds your energy rather then draining it. What I have found is that when you are in a career you love it is easier to drop the draining activities in your life or hire them done. Save your energy for what you love!

A big plus to starting a business or new career when you are older is that you bring with you tons of life …

Preparing For and Making a Career Change

In my youth, I observed that, in England at least, most people wanted to get out of their jobs. Their "career", whatever it was, only experienced to get a regular income. The millions of people who did the football pools, and later the lottery, were a testimony to the "let me out of here" dreams of the majority. "Win the pools, and retire."

Times may have changed in general, but the fact that most people are not content with their jobs has remained unchanged. Career, employer or job change, or early retirement, are in the minds of tens of millions of people across the world. Only a small minority will ever actually go full out for a career change; it is far too easy just to plod along doing the same old things in the same old place.

However, some people are more serious. These are the people with "get up and go" who actually do get up and go. These are the people who really do change their working lives, sometimes drastically.

Why Do Some People Want to Change Careers?

There are many possible reasons for wanting a career change. The following are just a few of the more common ones.

1. To some people, being in the same job, or even the same type of job, for too long is just unthinkable. I certainly fall into this category, and personally think total care changes can be a vital contributor to a satisfying life. I always want to learn something new, and do something new, once I have mastered what I was doing before. New challenges are an essential part of every day life.

2. Midlife career changes may be the result of a sort of career midlife crisis. This can particularly be so for someone who has always done the same job, and suddenly realize that their years are slipping away and they have really done very little with their working years.

3. Dissatisfaction with a current employer, either in terms of recognition, prospects or pay.

4. Boredom is a common cause of wanting a career change.

5. Lack of fulfillment in the current career or employment.

The above are some of the broad reasons people may seek a career change, but each individual is likely to have a different mix of reasons to consider changing their career.

Tips For Preparing for a Career Change

There are many sources of career change advice, both online and offline. Sometimes this can be given on an individual basis, or just in the form of written material which you can consume at your leisure. As a career is a personal matter, and all individuals are different, then pesonal consultation is better by far. However, advisors are individuals too, and the advice may vary from skilled counselor to career counselor.

The quality and quantity of career change advice available to you offline will vary greatly between countries and locales, and you may find that some of the online advice is, at least …

Top Ten Smart Networking Tips

Smart networking is critical to career success. Master it, and you master your destiny. The following tips will help you become a pro:

2. Put your resume on the Internet with its own web page. Many Internet service providers give you a free page for personal use. Then, add your resume page's URL to your business card.

3. When you collect business cards, follow-up! Note on the back of each card where you met the individual and something noteworthy to help you remember him. Schedule a time to meet for coffee to continue building the relationship.

4. Make networking a process to do for the life of your career, not just something to do between jobs. Continue growing your career by building and maintaining your relationships.

5. When at a networking event, offer first, take second. Determine the value you have for others before asking for their help. This way you will leave a memorable impression.

6. As an employee of "Brand Me, Inc.," act like you're self-employed when you seek a new job. Market yourself as your most important product.

7. For entrepreneurs, public speaking and publishing are tantamount to building expertise in the public eye. For job seekers, doing the same can attract attention to your expertise, hopefully leading to meetings with potential hiring authorities.

8. Remember that everyone you meet has the potential to lead you to your target. Most people are only three to six degrees removed from the person with what they need to connect.

9. Networking gurus have polished 30-second commercials. Practice your "elevator speech" so it sounds natural and conveys the right message in a succinct way.

10. As you network, be authentic. No one likes a know-it-all any more than a wallflower. Be yourself and be real. Above all else, remember your manners. Thank those who help you. …
