Ray Parks became the second player to breach the 40-point barrier this season for TNT to help the Tropang Giga cruise past Terrafima, 112-101, in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup Tuesday at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Pampanga.
Parks scored on an array of layups, jumpers and threes to wind up with a career-high 40 points on 13-for-17 shooting from the field. He also hit seven of nine triples and added 10 rebounds, five dimes, a steal and a block for good measure to turn in his finest game in a TNT uniform so far.
The Tropang Giga, now up 2-0 in the standings, also drew a 20-point, 15-rebound double-double from Troy Rosario. Castro, the team’s hero in the clutch in the season opener, added 13 and four assists, as Roger Pogoy cooled down from his 45-point explosion to finish with 11 points on 4-for-15 shooting.
TNT never trailed all game and pulled away in the second quarter, when it used an 11-0 burst to turn a slim 33-29 lead into a 44-29 advantage. Parks, who fired 12 of his points in that quarter, continued his assault after that to help his side build a 20-point advantage for their biggest lead in the game.
CJ Perez scored 30 points on 9-for-23 shooting for the Dyip. Glenn Khobuntin and Rashawn MCarthy added 16 and 14 each in the loss.
