College football schedule today: Full TV coverage for Week 7 Power 5, top 25 games

College football’s Week 7 schedule has only one ranked matchup but boy, is it a doozie.

No. 2 Alabama will host No. 3 Georgia at 8 p.m. on CBS this Saturday — the teams’ first regular-season meeting since 2015. The SEC’s final two undefeated teams will face off in a contrast of styles as the Crimson Tide relies on its prolific offense to overcome Georgia’s suffocating defense.

While that’s the only meeting of top-25 teams on Saturday, there are other intriguing matchups, including Louisville at No. 4 Notre Dame, LSU at No. 10 Florida and No. 5 North Carolina at Florida State.

Here’s the full college football Week 7 schedule for every Power 5 and top-25 team, including TV schedule, scores and how to watch every game live:

College football schedule 2020: The 28 games already postponed or canceled due to COVID-19

ncaa-football.jpg

With COVID-19 still raging across the country, it was long expected that many college football games would be postponed if not outright canceled over the course of the season. As we enter Week 5 of the 2020 season, there have now been 24 games affected by COVID-19 with most postponements coming as a result of contact tracing protocols that require players to quarantine for 14 days if they are deemed to have been in high-risk contact with someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Some teams, such as Houston, Memphis, Baylor, FAU, Virginia Tech, Arkansas State, Charlotte and Rice have already experienced multiple game disruptions. Even those who have not seen a game postponed yet are living day-by-day as COVID-19 test results and subsequent contact tracing dictate if — and how effectively — they will be able to play as scheduled.

Some leagues, such as the Big 12 and SEC, have established minimum player thresholds requiring that teams have a certain number of players available at specific positions. The disruptions have highlighted the issues facing the 2020 season with two of the Power Five conferences (four overall) still yet to begin play. The SEC is scheduled to start on Sept. 26 with the Big Ten slated to return the weekend of Oct. 24 and the Pac-12 eyeing a return on Nov. 6.

The Big Ten and Pac-12 announced they plan to conduct daily testing, which should help programs identify positive cases quickly and reduce the burden of contact tracing. But even with daily testing, successfully holding a season with no bye weeks leading up to the College Football Playoff will be a challenge.

Here is the full list of college football game postponements.

College football schedule, Week 8 kickoff times: Alabama-Tennessee picked as SEC on CBS Game of the Week

NCAA Football: Tennessee at Florida
USATSI

One of the great SEC rivalries will be in the spotlight on Week 8 with Alabama and Tennessee now set to face off in the SEC on CBS Game of the Week. The Oct. 24 date between the Crimson Tide and Volunteers will be the 102nd meeting in the series with the Tide holding a 56-38-7 all-time advantage.

The game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET from Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee, with Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and Jamie Erdahl on the call.

Among the many interesting storylines surrounding this year’s meeting is the latest chance for Jeremy Pruitt to measure his program against the class of the conference. Coming off a second-half collapse against Georgia, the Vols and their fans will be looking for a full four-quarter show of competitiveness against their traditional October rival. There is a lot of excitement about how Pruitt has elevated the program on the recruiting trail and in its eight-game winning streak that stretched from the 2019 season to the loss at Georgia. Hower, as Phillip Fulmer has mentioned, Tennessee will be judged by how it performs against three teams: Georgia, Florida and Alabama.

Other highlights from the Week 8 schedule in the SEC include Georgia’s trip to face Kentucky, Auburn traveling to take on Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss, and Florida hosting a Missouri team that’s looking more dangerous after a win against LSU.

One of the most anticipated games of the college football season will give us an insight into which team may be the best College Football Playoff contender out of the SEC.

No. 2 Alabama hosts No. 3 Georgia Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium in a game that should take over the national spotlight. This will also be the first time the the two teams have met in the regular season since 2015.

The winner of the SEC showdown will be viewed as the top contender to Clemson in the Top 25 rankings and will gain a massive advantage in the playoff discussion.

Although no other ranked programs face each other in the upcoming week, seven Top 25 sides have to go on the road, and some may have tougher challenges on their hands than expected.

Predictions

Alabama Handles Georgia At Home, Tests Clemson For No. 1 Spot

L.G. Patterson/Associated Press

Since the two best teams in the SEC last met in regular-season play, Alabama have taken wins over Georgia in the 2018 National Championship Game and SEC Championship Game the following season.

Saturday’s clash is expected to be as close as the last two meetings, but the Crimson Tide could have the advantage on offense.

Nick Saban’s side is coming off back-to-back 50-point performances against Texas A&M and Ole Miss, with Mac Jones throwing for over 400 passing yards in both victories.

The high volume of passing plays in those games should have handed the quarterback plenty of confidence to deal from the pocket to Jaylen Waddle, DeVonta Smith and others.

Waddle and Smith are over 300 receiving yards, while breakout star John Metchie hauled in 11 catches for 298 yards.

Alabama also has a stable of running backs to rely on, led by Najee Harris and Brian Robinson Jr. Even if the former is out of the game for a few plays, the Crimson Tide could threaten the Bulldogs with the latter, Trey Sanders or one of the wide receivers on a gimmick running play.

Georgia’s offense has displayed the ability to pull away from teams while its defense takes over. It beat Auburn and Tennessee by a combined 71-27.

College football schedule 2020: The 27 games already postponed or canceled due to COVID-19

College football odds, lines, schedule for Week 7: Alabama opens as favorite over Georgia at home

It is never too early to take a look at the lines for next week’s action, and the William Hill Sportsbook has released them for Week 7 action already. That includes the huge SEC showdown between SEC teams as No. 2 Alabama hosts No. 3 Georgia in Tuscaloosa next Saturday night on CBS.

While that’s going to be a great game between the only remaining undefeated teams in the SEC, it’s also the only game between ranked teams in Week 7. Though, I suppose if we’re only going to get one matchup between ranked teams, we might as well make it a couple of top-three sides.

There are some other games worth keeping an eye on, though. Particularly as some teams look to bounce back from a rough weekend, while other upstarts look to prove their worth. Let’s take a look at some of the bigger games for the weekend.

No. 3 Georgia at No. 2 Alabama (-6): As I said above, not only is this the only matchup between ranked teams this weekend, it’s also a game between the final unbeaten teams in the SEC. This game’s story will be the Alabama offense against a Georgia defense that’s been phenomenal through three games. Alabama got into an old-fashioned Big 12-style shootout with Ole Miss on Saturday night, but it will find the resistance a bit stronger against this defense. Of course, it’ll also be just as important to see if the Georgia offense can keep pace with Alabama. This is going to be a great game and a possible SEC Championship — and College Football Playoff? — preview.

No. 1 Clemson (-27) at Georgia Tech: Clemson’s playing another ACC game, so of course, it’s favored by nearly four touchdowns. Honestly, it’s pretty crazy to think that the ACC has three teams in the top five of the latest AP Top 25 poll, yet it still doesn’t look like there’s a legitimate threat to the Tigers within the conference. Miami was a candidate, and Clemson disposed of it easily. This week, the Tigers get a Georgia Tech team that they should handle, but don’t overlook the Bees. Geoff Collins’ team has a couple of impressive wins already, and the rebuild in Atlanta looks to be ahead of schedule.

Pitt at No. 13 Miami (-10.5): The Hurricanes can’t waste any time feeling sorry for themselves after losing to Clemson by 25 on Saturday. They can still compete for an ACC title this year and get a possible rematch with Clemson, but they can’t look past this Pitt team. The Panthers are coming off a close loss to Boston College, but have long been the definition of ACC Chaos. They are capable of anything at any time against anybody.

Louisville at No. 4 Notre Dame (-15): Before the season began, this looked to be one of the more interesting games on the ACC schedule in 2020. Unfortunately, Louisville has been disappointing and enters this game at 1-3 after

Five of the seven top-10 teams in action on Saturday will be battling ranked foes as the college football season rolls on with some crucial conference matchups dotting the Week 6 slate. In total, 16 of the 19 ranked teams who have started their seasons will be in action during what figures to be another hectic day in the sport. The headliners are No. 1 Miami hosting No. 7 Clemson in the evening and No. 3 Georgia hosting No. 14 Tennessee for the SEC on CBS Game of the Week in the afternoon.

But the morning wave of games is loaded, too. No. 4 Florida plays at No. 21 Texas A&M in a critical game for a pair of third-year coaches looking to make a mark on the national scene. The ACC will also have a pair of ranked teams dueling in the early time slot as No. 8 North Carolina hosts No. 19 Virginia Tech in the toughest test yet for both teams.

There’s a lot to cover with those games and everything in between. CBS Sports will be here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the day. All times Eastern

College football picks, schedule: Predictions against the spread, odds for key top 25 games in Week 6

The biggest week of the 2020 college football season to date has arrived with four top 25 matchups set for Saturday, including two each between SEC opponents and ACC opponents. Three of the top four teams in the nation will be in those ranked matchups, which means we could see some major rankings shifts by the time the day comes to an end.

No. 3 Georgia hosts No. 14 Tennessee in the SEC on CBS Game of the Week as two of Nick Saban’s former assistants go head-to-head looking for an advantage in the SEC East. In the nightcap, Saban will lead No. 2 Alabama against a third former assistant as Ole Miss and coach Lane Kiffin come to town. The key SEC matchup to open the day, though, is No. 3 Florida travelling to No. 21 Texas A&M with both teams looking for a key win early in the season.

Nearby in the ACC, we have the second-most anticipated regular-season game of its conference-only campaign as No. 1 Clemson hosts No. 7 Miami. It will likely be the Tigers’ toughest test until they face Notre Dame later in the season, while the Hurricanes will be looking to make a statement after dominating their first three opponents to open the season.

There’s plenty of action to be had on this stacked Saturday. Our experts at CBS Sports are here to help you navigate what game to play with expert picks both straight up and against the spread. Let’s take a look at five key games this weekend.

Odds via William Hill Sportsbook | All times Eastern

No. 22 Texas vs. Oklahoma (-2) — noon on FOX:  Both teams are in a corner ready to come out swinging, and I’d bet that’s reflected in a high-scoring game. I think Sooners coach Lincoln Riley sprinkles in some aggressiveness we haven’t seen from his team so far. As improbable as losing back-to-back Big 12 games seemed at the time, dropping three in a row would be almost unheard of for Oklahoma. Pick: Oklahoma (-2) — Ben Kercheval
