Importance of Website in Schools

Internet has become one of the largest platforms of communication. It is the most effective technology available today. Building a website for school can prove to be extremely beneficial if it is done in the right way. It maybe time consuming and include a lot of effort to be put in for developing a website for the school, but it is very advantageous for the school community. The school website gives the school’s information and also clear idea about what they are good at. School websites will provide the up to dates, as well as help them to link between schools, their communities and also to the entire world.

Opportunities provided by a school website:

  • Parents become more aware about the schools functioning, and also feel involved. Through the websites parents can be easily informed about the upcoming events like activities, exams and also tips that could help children. Thus websites play a vital role in removing the barrier between parents and the school.
  • With the help of websites teacher’s can share their views and ideas with the rest of the faculty as well as the parents.
  • Te website makes it easier for the parents to give the school and the teachers their valuable feedback.
  • Parents get the opportunity to become well versed with the education system of their child.
  • The website provides a platform for the school to build contacts and link with business, families as well as other schools. Especially for families who relocate very often, these websites become great sources for them.

Few elements necessary for a school website:

  • Background of the school and other information like history and staff.
  • Basic contact details should always be mentioned in the website like, address, phone number, etc.
  • The website should contain all the day to day information or notice like upcoming inter and intra school events, holidays parent teacher’s meeting, etc.
  • School websites should also avail blogs and forums to give an opportunity to have an interaction.
  • The necessary teaching aids, teaching materials, journals, lesson plan, and other education resources should be provided.
  • Photographs and write-ups about school, classroom, school trips, etc. should be put up. Also suggestions to be given to parents, assisting them to help their children at home.

Creating websites of your own is the same as being a publisher, but a website is always convenient for both students and educators. Here you make your own website without being criticized and it also saves time. Students should be encouraged to make the website for the school as they have more knowledge about technology than adults. Thus it becomes a learning experience for them, making them more versatile in what they do and create.

Many a times people tend to consider the school website to be a substitute for all the face-to-face interactions. It is a very wrong notion that they hold. The website should be perceived as an extra resource benefit provided to the world by the schools.…

TOEFL – Test of English As a Second Language

TOEFL or Test of English as a Second Language is a test registered to Educational Testing Services (ETS) that is administered worldwide to evaluate the ability of an individual to use and understand English. The test is primarily used by academic institutions to measure the English ability of prospective college students of reading, listening, speaking and writing.

In the past the TOEFL exam was a paper based test, however since 2005 it has become exclusively delivered via the Internet. To register for the test there are three primary steps you must follow. You must register and receive an ETS id number. After, choose the test day and time that best suits your needs. There are many test sites and many times throughout the week that the test is being offered. Many English Language Schools and colleges and universities through out the world offer the IBT TOEFL test. The current price for the test is $170.00 and payments can be made directly to ETS through their website.

As the IBT TOEFL is the English language standard by which colleges and universities decide on acceptance it is important to study hard for the test. The TOEFL test is not pass or fail. Each individual institution that uses the TOEFL score sets up their own standard of admittance. One school may accept candidates with a score of 70 other colleges may only accept candidates with a score of 80 and above.

Preparing for the TOEFL class can be done individually as there are many books and third party resources to help someone study. Due to the importance and high demand of a good TOEFL score schools and colleges have created classes built around strategies for passing the TOEFL successfully. These classes usually follow the guidelines and framework of the test and your study id focused on each of the four content areas.

The Reading Section consists of 3 to 5 passages and you are responsible for answering academic questions based on those readings.

The Listening Section consists of 6 passages 3-5 minutes in length and then test takers are required to answer questions based on the listened information. There is a mandatory 10 minute break after the listening section.

The Speaking section is consists of 6 Questions that test takers answer by speaking and being recorded.

The Writing Section involves measuring the test takers ability to read and listen to information and then write about it.

Students can take the TOEFL test as many times as they want, but most colleges only accept the most recent scores. The entire test lasts about 4 hours and all sections are completed together.…

Group Fitness Classes for Weight Loss

Exercise should be about having fun moving your body in the way it was designed to move. It seems that exercise has become a negative word is today’s society. Too many times have I been lecturing to a group of students or adults and when I mention exercise they cringe. This should be exciting if I recall in grade school we couldn’t wait to go outside for recess it was our favorite part of the day. Now we work, work, work, go home and do more work, then sit down on the couch. We have taken the activity out of our day. Even in schools they are cutting back on physical education at a time when the country is at its worst in terms of disease and sickness related to sedentary lifestyles.

Group Exercise

Group exercise is a fantastic way to get together and have some grown up recess time. Make sure you do your research in your local newspaper, visit the parks and recreation website, or pop in at your local YMCA to get an idea of the classes and times they offer them. Make sure that you chose a class that meet two to three times a week. If you a beginner to fitness make sure the class is not too advanced you can work your way up. The last thing you want to do is take a class that is very difficult and get discouraged. Show up a few minutes before class or hang back a few minutes after class and introduce yourself to the instructor, many times the instructors are also fitness trainers that can give you some great advice one on one.

Be Consistent

The key is to not quit, one way to help when you feel like you are falling off the wagon is to have friends to hold you accountable for your goals. Make friends in the class and make a pact to stay in touch with each other to make sure no one gets left behind. Sometimes things come up; family, work, and sickness happen but don’t use these things as repeated excuses. If you do happen to miss a class, make it your business to do a makeup day using another class or going out and doing some exercise on your own. If you are consistent with your exercise and workout program you will get the results.

Con: Monotony

Some group fitness classes like cycling and step aerobics can get a little monotonous doing the same exercises and motions day in and day out won’t challenge your body after a long time. You need variety in your workout program, mix it up a little bit. If the instructor in your class isn’t changing the routine enough try another class or move onto something with more difficulty. At some point you may experience a plateau with your weight loss it may be that your workout program has gone stale. Get help from one of the personal trainers or switch up your classes …

Mastering the Female Orgasm – Female Orgasms 101

Men, hold on to your hats! You are about to be let in on a whole new world of secrets! A world that has the power to confuse, mystify, and bewilder…

The world of the female orgasm!

The female body is a complex work of art – beautiful to look at, but difficult to figure out… especially when it comes to orgasm.

Here are some quick facts about the female orgasm:

– Average length of time it takes a woman to have an orgasm: 20 minutes. Average length of time it takes a man: 2-5 minutes.

– Half of girls have had an orgasm by the time they’re 16 years old.

– 44% of men say their female partners always have orgasms when they have sex. 22% of women say they always have orgasms when they have sex. Hummmm!

– About 1% of women are able to achieve orgasm solely through breast stimulation.

– 63% of college women say they’ve had multiple orgasms.

– The G-spot is named after Dr. Ernst Grafenberg, the first modern doctor to write about it.

Many men find it difficult to understand the female sexual response cycle simply because it differs so much from their own.

Here is a brief overview of what happens during a female orgasm:

Stimulation of clitoris

Tension build-up is caused within pelvis

Tension is finally released and orgasm is experienced

Series of involuntary (yet pleasurable) muscle contractions sweep through body

Contractions are felt in the vagina, uterus, and/or rectum

Unlike with the male orgasm, women have the ability to feel many different types of climaxes. These climaxes are dependent on the types of stimuli used, and whether the orgasm is clitoral or vaginal.

So, where do you learn the finer techniques of the Female Orgasm? How about asking your lover what she likes? Or reading an eBook that covers the subject?

In today’s age of the Internet, there are many resources available to you online.…

Total Quality Management (TQM) As a Corporate Strategy in Higher Education

The need for continued improvement to the experience of students and staff in higher education institutions (HEIS) is now a common clarion call. One way to respond to this strong request for something to happen is for HEis to employ total quality management (TQM) as a Corporate Strategy.

TQM

A critical component of the TQM is its focus on improving the customers' (students) experience and ensuring that employees (staff) are up to speed with their professional development and training. This is achieved through their involvement and by consulting with them. The other component is to improve the product. In the case of HEis, this includes teaching and other related services. Again this can be done by engaging staff and students in the process. These I may address in another article.

Reasons for implementing TQM in HEi

The implementation of TQM as a corporate strategy in HEis is necessary for a number of reasons. Firstly, as outlined above, it has the potential to enable a response to the call for improving the students' experience by engaging students and staff in determining the direction and vision of the institution. It is now an established fact that people are inclined to engage fully in activities created or facilitated by them. Secondly, involving and consulting with students and staff enabling activities and developments such as infrastructural changes, re-assignment of personnel and the introduction of new models, to be viewed in a positive light and improved upon incrementally.

How to implement TQM

Firstly , there is the need to define the term 'quality' and clearly point out actions and thoughts which indicates quality in the institutions as this relates to staff and students. This has to be done according to departments and functions, students and staff.

Secondly , there is the need to get staff and students' 'buy-in' by creatively stating and reinforcing the fact that TQM is not only relevant to the mission and mandate of the institution but will enable efficiency to be the 'hallmark' of the institution and the service offered to staff and students.

Thirdly , to implement TQM in HEis requires the cooperation of senior and other management staff in the process of creating and implementing policies in this regard. This is a challenging task for the leadership and several factors such as financial resources, institutional culture and gaining the commitment of those in management at all level must be considered when making and implementing policies.

Finally, for TQM to be implemented in any HEi require a strong institutional support in the form of leadership, guidance and resource allocation. Also critical to the success of TQM implementing is the 'political will' and fortitude of a few key people in leadership who are willing to wrestle, argument for, implement and evaluate the strategy. Any lack of effort or resources will threaten the success of a TQM strategy and may cause overall failure. …

Auto Selling as a Career

One of my previous carers was selling cars. I have had about 15 jobs in my lifetime and that was one of the hardest in many ways. Prior to selling cars I was in restaurant management so it was a completely new experience. One plus factor to a car sales career is that it is easy to get that kind of job. My local paper had dealer help wanted ad's suggesting huge pay with no experience required. The first place I applied to offered me a job after a five minute interview. I went downtown for a license and started the next day. Auto dealers usually pay straight commission so they do not have much to loose if a new hire does not work out.

I worked six days a week and twelve hours a day my first 2 years in the business. The first year my income was very low, even working long hours. About 1 out of 10 new salespeople leased less than a month at this dealership!

After the first year the job was easier and I made more missions. My selling skills improved and I was getting repeat and referral business. I sent mail to all my previous customers every month, which helped stay in touch with them. After two years I was one of the top sales reps .. After three years I moved to fleet sales. Then I went to fleet manager, leasing manager, and finally to inventory manager. Manager pay was much better.

After more than twenty years in the business I look back on it as a good experience overall. I would not recommend auto sales as a career for most people. However there is an opportunity to make very good money and move up, even without a higher education. For those still in school I would say get all the education you can, and do not sell cars!

My new career is insurance and mortgage loans. …

Inspire the Next Generation of Scientists

Scientists are very important people in the modern world; they discover new life, new medical techniques, cure illnesses and help discover more about the world around us. But as the demand of scientists increases, how can adults inspire young children of today into picking science as a project they want to study? Here is a quick guide for both teachers and parents on the subject.

Children, especially young children, have very short attention spans – some more than most – so one of the first problems that teachers and parents find when trying to inspire children to take up science is keeping their attention long enough. While this may seem impossible, it can almost certainly be done, and as soon as you have got their attention, you have to keep it, and depending on the type of science you are teaching the children this can be very easy. For example, many people are often too intimidated by the thought of science as a series of complex numbers and difficult equations to even think about taking it as a subject. However, science has many forms, and maths does not have to be too important to the student for them to want to do the subject.

One thing that many children enjoy about science is it's use of science experiments, which can be great fun for kids to do. These experiments help introduce children to the subject in a practical way, as opposed to a purely academic way, and learning this way also helps children see the real magic of science in action. Examples of experiments are tasks such as changing the colors of chemicals, experiments with light, darkness, and even experiments with the weather. Finding a practical way to introduce children to science can be remarkably easy, and you can even buy kits from toy shops that let children experiment with their own 'chemical' lab. These kits are very safe, and do not contain any harsh or abrasive chemicals, as they are really a starting kit, and a way to get children interested in the subject.

Of course, there is one small thing that can make all the difference to children when learning about science, and it's this: passion. Have you ever had a teacher that either did not know a lot about the subject that they were meant to be teaching you, or just did not care for it? They were not very fun teachers to have were they? In contrast, think about a teacher that you may have had when you were younger that was passionate about the subject that they were teaching, did you enjoy their classes? The chances are that you did, because they enjoyed the subject so much, they were able to make teaching it enjoyable too. They could also put in extra work on presentations and projects, because they loved working on the subject, so why not find a scientific subject that you're interested in, and start teaching it? Passion is sometimes all it takes …

Engineering Degree Online

Engineering has been a very attractive program to many schools with a penchant for engineering work. Studies in engineering have been deemed as quite tedious and that they require immense time and concentration. This is true since engineering is substantial and requires one to conceptualize all the aspects of machinery and structural profiles as well as design and outlay of various mechanical, structural and other related subjects.

Most of our graduates nowdays are shying away from the technical faculties and taking up jobs in the lucrative marketing and online business sector. However, some of them are still dedicated in the highly reputable engineering jobs. The crossing industry as may be well understood is a vast and an emerging force in both the economic front and the high potential emerging markets. Careers in such sectors might prove technical but our engineers nowdays are superseding the technical block and excelling wonderfully.

What could help those who are shying away from these technical subjects is offering them a simple methodology to achieve their objective easily. Online engineering degrees offer a solution to this problem quite easily. These degrees have the most comprehensive and well detailed course detail. Beside, the learner is not bound to tight guidelines and time frames. This is an attractive platform since the learner can be able to commit either as much time as possible to his studies or limit it t specific time frames. This emerges as an essential aspect of doing an online degree course.

Conclusively, an online degree offers one a chance to achieve more knowledge in the faculty due to the flexibility and convenience of the studies. Rather than reporting to the institutions so as to catch a lecture, one concentrates on working hard to achieve its objectives in the study. Once, when one successfully finishes his studies online, he is awarded an accredited engineering degree. This is the core of doing online studies. They are flexible, affordable and convenient for anyone. It is quite possible to earn an engineering degree online. The most important step towards this is to apply for the course for an accredited and well acclaimed university. …

How Much Should a Free Education Cost?

2 kids + 2 weeks of school = $100’s

What’s wrong with this picture? This is public education! Don’t we have a legal right to a free primary education in a public school system? I’ve talked with family and friends in Columbus and other large and small cities in and out of Ohio and they don’t pay class fees, what’s that for anyway? I’ve asked every year I’ve paid them and they say “for books and stuff”, or something to that effect. Well, why haven’t I seen any of these books and stuff that I continue to pay for come home with my kids at the end of the year? Who’s using them the next year? Do they get thrown away, go to kids who’s parents can’t afford to pay the fees (yet try getting out of them!), get sent to other school districts so they don’t have to charge fees? And that’s just the beginning, here’s a breakdown of what we’ve had to pay in the first two weeks of school for two children:

Class fees = $75

Camp fees & supplies = $98

School pictures = $35 (and they do this twice a year now! The pictures aren’t even as good as the ones I take with my digital camera!)

School lunches = $??? (way too expensive just to make our kids fat and then complain about childhood obesity – we pack healthy, less expensive food)

Supplies = $146 (and you can’t tell me the kids are using the six packs of post it notes I sent in, and all those pencils?? and why the hell can’t we buy a pack of dry erase markers for the teachers to use that we can afford? why do they HAVE to be Expo wide tip primary color blah blah blah kind?)

Fund raiser = $52 (I know, we don’t have to buy this stuff, but just try telling your kid he’s going to be the only one in class not receiving a cheap prize when the stuff comes in, that’s like telling him he’s grown out of happy meals! Yeah, at some point it has to be done, but….)

Fees for parties and field trips = $6 (so far)

First of many Market Days = $??? (I don’t buy it, but if you do, add it in)

Total, so far = $412+++

Now add in the additional property taxes we pay each and every time a school levy passes, and they almost always do, so that our oh-so-broke school system can build million dollar football fields and two or three new schools each year. Yes, Marysville is growing, but consider this before you elect to raise your own property taxes for the new students moving in, each of those households are paying their own taxes for their children, so new growth also means new money for the schools. Do they really continuously need more of ours?

Now I know that some of this stuff is necessary and I don’t mind …

7 Common Myths About Career Coaching

Once a career path is chosen, and you get a fair idea about that field, you are ought to develop some prejudices as the time flies and will always want to be in a comfort zone. As a result, even if you lose your track and find yourself in the middle of the road, you falter to take any advice because preconceptions are hard to break. The best thing in such situations is to seek help from a career coach.

A career coach is a person who assists you in analyzing your career performance. They can be thought of torchbearers who make you realize your career goals and guide about strategies to implement for achieving the same. However, due to popular misconceptions, people seldom avail such opportunities. Sadly, these career coaching myths act as an impediment to what could have been an eye-opening experience. Some myths are:

Mandatory for youth

One common notion is that coaching must be only for the young generation or those who have underperformed in education and left with very limited options. Such people often keep a preconceived idea in mind that coaching must be taken only up to a certain age.

Only for the rich

The sessions from such mentors are aimed at delving into the minds of an individual and igniting their inner spark. They are highly qualified professionals who help align your career trajectory. As it is a rigorous task and involves long conversations, it will surely put a dent in your pocket. Therefore, people fix it in their minds that such meetings are only for those who can afford them.

Quick solutions for all your questions

One more common thought process is to visit the mentor only when there is a serious crisis, or you are considering a transition in your career. While these instructors aim to give satisfactory answers to all your doubts, they are not someone who can read your mind. They cannot give you a detailed explanation within half an hour or in first meeting, but once a few sessions pass, they will definitely provide you useful insights that will help in shaping your career.

Writes your CV and guarantees you a job

Even if they have read numerous CV, their job is only to comment on the positives and irrelevant sections that are present in your CV. You will be responsible for writing your CV and not the career coach. They will help you take steps to get the first job, build your career or when you decide to change your field, but that does not imply they will be recruiting you or referring your name to your dream company.

Similar to college counseling sessions

Most individuals think that these sessions will resemble guidance sessions that they had in their college while pursuing graduation or masters and so nothing new will come out of it. Since they have already attended multiple lectures on the same topic, they think it would be a total waste of time. However, the …
