Conroe thumps Summer Creek; Magnolia upsets College Station

For the second straight week, Conroe dominated another Humble ISD opponent at Buddy Moorhead Stadium.

This time it was Summer Creek as the Tigers came away with a 37-21 victory in a non-district contest. Conroe topped Kingwood a week ago on the same field.

Conroe (2-1) got another standout performance by sophomore receiver Louis Williams III who had 143 yards and one touchdown.

Senior Jalen Williams also had another fine performance with 221 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also ran for 81 yards and another score.

Clayton Garlock also saw action with two touchdown passes and 72 yards.


Joshua Denman had 72 yards receiving and two touchdown receptions.

Jordan O’Neal led the Tigers in rushing with 109 yards and Charles Kibble had one rushing touchdown.

Conroe returns to action Thursday at Mercer Stadium against Fort Bend Dulles.

Magnolia tops state-ranked College Station

Magnolia started off District 8-5A (Div. I) play with a bang Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

The Bulldogs fell behind early but made a comeback for a 27-16 win over No. 7-ranked College Station.

Magnolia (2-1, 1-0) trailed 13-0 in the second quarter.

Senior Mitch Hall rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on 26 attempts.

Senior quarterback Travis Moore was 10 for 18 for 193 yards and two scores. Ben Coligan and Garrett Stone were each on the receiving end of touchdown passes. Heston Kelly led all receivers with three catches for 59 yards.

Moore also rushed nine times for 71 yards.

Magnolia held the Cougars to 96 yards rushing and 187 yards passing. Nathan Hakes, Grady Harper and Garrison Hefner each had interceptions.

Magnolia travels to Lufkin Friday at 7 p.m.

Grizzlies raise record to 3-0

Grand Oaks remains unbeaten in 2020 after a 56-21 non-district win over Kingwood Park Friday at Woodforest Bank Stadium on homecoming night.

Micah Cooper had another huge game out of the backfield as he racked up 169 yards rushing and four touchdowns for the Grizzlies (3-0).

Brandon High added two scores and 80 yards rushing while Noah McClatchey and quarterback Hudson Hamilton each rushed in a touchdown for eight total rushing touchdowns as a team.

On defense, Hunter Yeager had an interception.

Grand Oaks continues non-district play 7 p.m. at Moorhead Stadium against Fort Bend Austin.

Cooper defense shines in win

John Cooper was dominant defensively in a 16-3 win at Houston Christian in non-conference play Friday night.
