Where is Ohio State football in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for Week 6? College rankings

COLUMBUS, Ohio — As Ohio State football waits to make its case for accolades on the field, the Buckeyes keep holding steady in the college football rankings.

Ohio State remained No. 6 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday. The Buckeyes were actually jumped by North Carolina, which moved from 8 to 5 to take the top-five spot vacated by Florida after its loss to Texas A&M.

Ohio State also received no first-place votes after receiving two last week. Cleveland.com’s Buckeyes beat writer, Nathan Baird, switched his no. 1 vote to Clemson following a 42-17 victory over then-No. 8 Miami.

Clemson remained No. 1 and gained seven first-place votes to total 59. No. 2 Alabama received two first-place votes, while No. 3 Georgia received the other. Notre Dame moved up to No. 4.

Some voters have continued to leave Ohio State and other Big Ten and Pac-12 teams off of their ballots completely until those conferences begin their seasons. The Buckeyes’ season begins Oct. 24 against Nebraska.

Ohio State was the preseason No. 2 team with 18 first-place votes. The Buckeyes temporarily dropped out when the AP made only those teams with schedules set for fall 2020 eligible for the poll. They returned for the Sept. 27 pol and were ranked No. 6 in each of the past two weeks.
